The third sports meet of the Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Tengnoupal Block was opened today at Saivom village by MOA president and Deputy Chairman of Planning Board Bijoy Koijam.
Altogether 17 teams are participating in football event, 11 teams in volleyball men's event and 9 team in volleyball women's event.
The sports meet opened today with a football match between Tengnoupal Youth Club and Sita Youth Club would close on April 10 .
Speaking at the opening function, Bijoy Koijam asserted that sports can bring peace and harmony in both the hills and valley.
He also acknowledged talents of Kuki football players who have found their place in the starting line-ups of the major clubs of Manipur.
The Chief Minister would be urged to set aside required amount in the sectorial allocation of the current year for construction of a guest house at Saivom, Bijoy Koijam said.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Tengnoupal SDO Darsingso Aimol and DTO Imphal West M Mani as president and guest of honour .
The chief guest, the president and the guest of honour of the occasion donated money and sports materials to the organising committee of the sports meet being held under the theme 'Strive to Win'.
The opening match between Tengnoupal Youth Club (A) and Sita Youth Club was won by the former at 4-1 .
In other matches, Saivom Youth Club (A) thrashed Zalen team 5-0 as FIOC Thingkangphai beat Saivom Youth Club (B) 3-1 .
In men's volleyball, Lamkang Khunyai beat Phalbung Youth Club while SNMT Molnom beat Phalbung
