The JAC for 2006/2009 Autonomous district Council DPC Faced candidates' Parents and Guardians, Manipur has appealed to all general public, specially vehicle owners/drivers to cooperate and support the 72 hours general strike which begins from April 6 midnight and the subsequent proposed indefinite economic blockade.
No vehicular movement would be allowed during the general strike.
Moreover, no shops should open.
In case any individual is found violating the strike, the matter would be dealt with seriously and untoward incident occurring thereof should be the individual's own responsibility, it cautioned.
Meanwhile, many organisations have pledged support to the 72 hours general strike called by the JAC for 2006/2009 Autonomous District Council DPC Faced Candidates' Parents and Guardians in hill districts with effect from April 6 midnight.
In separate press releases, the Thadou Students' Association Chandel District Committee, Kangpokpi Youth Union, Kuki Chiefs' Association Chandel District and the Kuki Women Union, Manipur have conveyed support to the general strike.
The TSA, Chandel District Committee asserted that the inordinate delay in declaring the DPC results was a sign of the Government's negligence of the hill tribal people in general and the student community in particular.
These organisations further pointed out that many schools in hill areas are presently by local people due to lack of Government appointed teachers.
Declaration of the DPC results would be in the best interest of all sections, they asserted.
