As part of commemoration of the 175th Raising Day of Assam Rifles, a wreath laying ceremony was held at Assam Rifles War Memorial at Kangla under the aegis of HQ IG AR(South) today.
IG AR(South), Maj Gen CA Krishnan led in laying the wreaths.
All ranks of the AR under HQ IGAR (South) alongwith the ex-servicemen of AR took part in the ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Maj Gen CA Krishnan averred that the Assam Rifles has been trying to show the people by making all out efforts to usher peace and development in the region that the force is a true friend of the people.
He asserted that the oldest paramilitary force in the country, the Assam Rifles has been taking part in a number of operations with a view to bringing about peace and development in the country.
The "Sentinels of the North East" and "Friends of the Hill People", the Assam Rifles has been actively engaged in counter insurgency operations in the region, he said.
