Chief Minister, O Ibobi is scheduled to inspect the progress of works of making of tunnels for Jiribam-Tupul railway track lying project and work progress of Thoubal Multi-purpose project on March 29.The Chief Minister will also attend a public function at Churachandpur district headquarters organised by the ADC there.
Security measures at the sites where the Chief Minister will pay visit have started taken up.
State security establishments deploying in the respective areas have been put on alert.
SPs of Churachandpur, Tamenglong, Senapati and Imphal east (for visit at Thoubal Dam site) have been asked to taken up security measures ahead of the scheduled visit, a highly place official source said today.
Additional force required to deploy at the sites will also be sent from Imphal for preventing any untoward incident during the Chief Minister's tour even though there were no specific threats on the visit, the source maintained.
The Chief Minister along with his some cabinet ministers will be lifting by a chopper (MI-21) of the Indian Air Force in visiting the project sites, an official source said adding that before inspecting the projects will be landed at Churachandpur district headquarters where he is scheduled to attend annual function of the Autonomous District Council (ADC) there.
As per a tentative tour programme, Ibobi left Imphal from Kangla Helipad by 9 am for Churachandpur district headquarters to attend the annual function of the ADC, Churachandpur.
He is likely to inspect some other developmental projects taken in the district headquarters.
The Chief Minister will take the flight directly to Noney for inspecting the progress works of the making tunnel for the Imphal-Tupul Railway Line taking up there by the authority of the Northern Frontier Railways.
Construction of single line BG Tunnel no.12 (approximate total length 4694 RM) at km 63.626 to km 68.320 in between Khongsang Tupul in connection with construction of new railway line project between Jiribam-Tupul is currently in progress.
Mention may be made that the foundation stone first ever railhead at Jiribam for Jiribam-Tupul Rail Line was laid by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in 2004 and targeted for completion by current year 2010.But the target was rescheduled in 2012 due to delay in the work on various reasons.
Almost 80% of laying the first 10 kms of rail line from the side of Jiribam has been completed in 2009 and the work from the side of Tupul to lay the rail line covering 30 km which also include portion of tunnel is in progress now.
The Chief Minister will be lifted at Thoubal Dam site directly from Noney where he would inspect the progress of construction works of the earth dam, the source said.
