Imphal, March 24 2010:
A team of the Medical Council of India (MCI) arrived at Imphal today to assess the ongoing infrastructure development work of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS).
The State Government's plan to commence the first session of the medical institution from last year was deferred as the MCI refused to give the green signal.
Nevertheless, the State Government has been working hard to commence maiden session of JNIMS from this year.
The MCI team led by Dr Suresh would make spot assessment of the infrastructure, position of faculties and equipment available at JNIMS from tomorrow.
The team would leave Imphal on March 27 .
Construction work of JNIMS OPD is almost complete.
There is no shortage of faculty members for the medical institute of 100 seat capacity, claimed a source while exuding that JNIMS would be able to commence its session from this year.
