Imphal, March 01:
The Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Bishnupur branch has appealed to MEELAL to stop burning the Manipuri language text books written in Bengali script.
In a statement the Parishad said that they are all for implementing Meetei Mayek but reasoned that it will take time.
The Parishad also maintained that Bengali script was adopted by us and not foisted on the people of Manipur by the Bengali people and questioned what purpose burning the script of another people will serve.
