Imphal, March 01:
All the Government offices in Kumbi Assembly Constituency have been reportedly closed down from today till March 10 in protest against the indifferent attitude of the Govt to the demand for improving the condition of road and other civic amenities in the area.
Schools and colleges, however, would be exempted from the purview of the agitation.
In informing this in a statement, president of All Kumbi Kendra United Federation Jayentakumar Salam said that aggrieved public would be compelled to launch road blockade and bandh if the Government do not look into these demands with March 10.He said that the agitation has been launched as Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has failed to look into the problems of the people.
A memorandum highlighting the problems being faced by the people of the area was submitted on February 19 jointly by 15 different organisations.
The memorandum had set deadline till February 28 for taking up necessary measures to redress the grievances of the people.
But has the Govt has done nothing, the public of Kumbi were constrained to take up the agitation, he added.
He further said that the Government should be solely held responsible for any untoward incident that might occur during the course of the agitation.
The All Kumbi Kendra United Federation, a joint co-ordinating committee of all the organisations, clubs and associations of Kumbi A/C, was formed to spearhead the agitation.
