Barely a day after the NSCN (IM) issued an ultimatum to its rival faction NSCN (K) in the aftermath of Friday�s incident at Athibung under Nagaland�s Peren District in which the NSCN (K) killed two rival cadres and injured another two, an NSCN (K) cadre was killed in a factional clash at Tizit in Nagaland�s Mon district at around 8 am today.
According to NSCN (K), the cadre, identified as Chingsom Konyak of Chowha village, Mon, was killed after a group of 40 NSCN (IM) cadres attacked a rival group numbering about 20.Following the incident, the situation in the entire Tizit area was reportedly very tense with people apprehensive of fresh eruption of factional clashes.
The NSCN (K) alleged that the situation in Mon district began to deteriorate from the day Lt Gen (Retd) RV Kulkarni, Chairman of Ceasefire Supervisory Board and Ceasefire Monitoring Cell, allowed the NSCN (IM) cadres to set up of a designated camp.
The NSCN (K) claimed that the designated camp was set up against the wishes of the people and the Non Governmental Organisations of Mon district.
Earlier, yesterday, �col� Pukreho, �commander�, Thungbo Brigade of NSCN (IM) cautioned that they would take up their own course of action against the NSCN (K) in order to safeguard the innocent people and protect national security from the "clutches of the traitors".
