Imphal, March 01:
Reacting sharply the open castigations by MEELAL, the Manipur Forward Youth Front today stated that come hell or high water, it will not budge from its stand of opposing the text book burning spree unleashed by MEELAL activists.
In a stinging response, MAFYF in a statement today said that MEELAL should not come the illusion that it can dictate terms to everyone and plunge the whole State into turmoil.
On the charge that MAFYF is not a student organisation, the statement said that there is nothing to such a charge as the name MAFYF itself suggests that it is not a student organisation.
MEELAL need not act as if it knows everything, countered MAFYF.
The statement went on to question whether the onus of promoting quality education has been taken up only student organisations and reminded MEELAL of MAFYF's stand to eradicate cheating and use of unfair means in examinations.
Reacting to the charges that MAFYF was set up by two frustrated persons who could not get contract works, the statement said that the very accusation has exposed the character of the persons leading MEELAL.
In a sarcastic tone, MAFYF said that MEELAL was founded by a person, who lost the MP election and then later misled a number of teachers.
This says something, it added.
MAFYF is not interested in petty verbal duel and reminded MEELAL that unlike them, MAFYF respects the fourth estate.
On the statement of MEELAL that the members of MAFYF would be hauled up one by one, the statement said that there is no need to search for any of its members and suggested that if MEELAL really desires it can come to the office of MAFYF.
However MEELAL should not send its "women activists" who have shown their valour by grabbing text books from young children and insisted that the male members may come like true men.
Making its stand clear, MAFYF said that it fully supports the movement to implement Meetei Mayek but is only opposed to the book burning spree.
