Imphal, March 01: Two youths were gunned down during a fierce gun battle between two armed groups at IB Road one and half kms south west of Churachandpur PS last night at around 9.The victims have been identified as Luneishang alias Ruben Vaiphei (19) s/o SK Haomang of New Lamka and Sonkhup s/o Vungkham of Z Moiphoi Village.

According to reports received from the police both the victims are suspected to be cadres of United Social Revolutionary Army.

The bodies of the two victims were handed over to family members after post mortem at Churachandpur Dist Hospital today.

According to another report, a chowkidar of a stone crusher complex located at Pheidinga Heinou Makhong was found dead in his own bed under suspicious circumstances this morning at around 3.The body was found by one Wangkhem Ramu (53) of Phumlou presently residing at Pheidinga.

The deceased chowkidar has been identified as Laishram Manglemjao (34) of Pheidinga Heinou Makhong.

The owner of the stone crusher has been identified as one Aribam Noran of Lamshang.

According to family members, Laishram Manglemjao had returned home in an inebriated state along with two of his friend identified as Mutum Sarat (40) of Touthem Khunou and Ningthoujam Itocha (40) last night at around 8.30.However the two friends left after putting Manglemjao to bed.

They further informed a complaint was submitted to the police Station concerned regarding Manglemjao's death after some bruise marks were detected near the victim's private parts.

Post mortem was conducted on the victim's body at RIMS today.
