As in other parts of the country, the State Government paid homage to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary today which is being observed as Martyr's Day.
Governor Dr SS Sidhu graced the Martyr's Day observance function held at Gandhi memorial hall here today.
After rendering of devotional songs by the teachers of Government Music College, Governor Dr SS Sidhu led the people in offering floral tributes and paying homage to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi installed inside the complex of GM Hall.
State Assembly Speaker Dr Maniruddin Sheikh, Ministers, MLAs, top officials of Civil and police, etc were also present at the occasion.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) also remembered the Father of the Nation on his death anniversary during a function held in this connection at Congress Bhavan here today.
The function commenced with lighting of the lamp by general secretary of the party Vidyapati Senjam and offering of floral tributes to the photgraph of Mahatma Gandhi.
