A suspected militant was killed in a shoot out with police commandos of Imphal East police today at about 6.30 pm at Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai under Porompat police station.
Police sources said that the slain man is yet to be identified and added that one grenade and documents have been recovered from him.
The body is being kept at RIMS morgue.
Two shot at, injured : Unidentified armed persons shot at two persons near Keishamthong under Imphal Police Station at around 8.15 am today.
The two injured persons have been identified as Waikhom Khelen (29) s/o late Ningthemjao of Ningomthongjao and Thounaojam Opendro (40) s/o late Chaoba of Singjamei Thongam Leikai.
According to report, both of them are coming on a Kinetic Honda when three unidentified persons stopped them near Keishamthong.
The unidentified persons asked the two to produce the license of the Kinetic Honda and snatched the goggle one of them was wearing smashed it on the ground when all of a sudden one of the unidentified persons whipped out a pistol and shot at the duo.
W Khelen was hit by a bullet on his thigh and Th Opendro on his right calf.
Both of them have been admitted to RIMS Hospital.
The unidentified armed persons, however, did not take away the Kinetic Honda, the report added.
According to a late report received by the press, W Khelen and Th Opendro were coming out after visiting the ailing Director of Social Welfare Department Nabachandra at the latter's Keishamthong Hodam Leirak residence when they were intercepted and shot at by the unidentified gunmen.
Meanwhile, Ningomthong Youth Voluntary Organisation (NYVO) has demanded to know the reason behind shooting and injuring Khelen and his friend.
In a statement, NYVO general secretary Y Tomba also demanded to know the individuals or groups concerned for the act of inflicting injuries on the two innocent persons.
On the other hand, unidentified gun men reportedly fired four-five rounds of ammunition at the residence of Director of Horticulture and Soil Conservation Kh Kirankumar at Singjamei Kshetri Leikai last night at around 8.30.No one was injured in the incident.
Similar attack had also been carried at the residence of the Director some time back.
