Imphal, January 30:
The status of certain cases handed over to the CBI are still not clear with the Central Agency still not replying to the written submission made by the State Government.
On the other hand, despite the decision taken by the State Cabinet to hand over the North AOC killing and the assassination of IGP T Thangthuam to the CBI, no formal intimation has been sent to the CBI yet.
Talking to The Sangai Express a reliable source informed that though the State Home Department has written to the CBI to investigate the case of fake appointment of teachers and other employees in the School Education Department, sometime last year, the investigating agency is yet to formally acknowledge taking up the case.
The decision to hand over the fake appointment cases to the CBI was taken after the proscribed KYKL blew the lid off the large scale racket and pulled up a number of teachers and officials of the School Education Department for their involvement in the racket.
Even a Special Investigating Team was instituted and at least 1200 cases of fake appointments was detected in the School Education Department in after a thorough verification drive.
Though the State Cabinet has decided to hand over the North AOC killing and the assassination of IGP Thangthuam on December 31 to the CBI, the State Government is yet to formally intimate the same to the investigating agency, said the source.
A large number of social organisations, especially Zomi bodies had demanded that the assassination case of the IGP be handed over to the CBI.
