Stir threatened against North AOC killings

Imphal, January 05: Under the banner of a Joint Action Committee a public meeting was held at Tokpam Leikai today wherein resolution was adopted to launch intense agitation in case of failure to produce and punish those involved in the December 31 night random firing at North AOC.

The JAC was formed in the backdrop of the firing incident by unidentified persons wherein one Simthar Tangkhul was killed on the spot, another person - L Govind later succumbed to injuries, while the third - L Langamba is presently undergoing treatment.

Speakers representing different social, voluntary and student organisations unanimously condemning the incident expressed views that agitation option should be kept open in case Government�s failure to arrest the assailant/s.Among others representatives of AMKIL, TIPS, AMSU, MSF and DESAM took part and spoke at the meeting.

The JAC in a statement also informed that a Wakat Meepham will be held tomorrow from 10 am till 4 pm to condemn the incident.
