Imphal, January 05 (NNN):
The NSCN-K, Zeliangrong Region has said that it is the NSCN-IM who wants to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the region.
NSCN-K, Zeliangrong Region spokesman Felix informed NNN today that the NSCN-IM cadres had been on the prowl in the Zeliangrong Region with only one purpose - which has been to bring turmoil in the region.
Elaborating his point, Felix said that the NSCN-K while obliging to the call made by Zeliangrong Union (ZU) for making Zeliangrong Region a peace zone, has been working with great restraint in order to maintain peaceful atmosphere and accused the NSCN-IM of creating trouble in the region.
Felix's statement came at the backdrop of the ongoing clashes between the two NSCN factions since the last forthnight in Makhom areas under Tamenglong district.
On yesterdays clashes between the two factions at Makhom Part-2, Felix said that the NSCN-IM cadres with the intention of giving hardship to the general public had attacked the NSCN-K cadres.
The NSCN-K leader further said that the NSCN-IM cadres had been after them to attack.
He reasoned that the NSCN K has not been vindictive for that would only amount to disturbing the general public.
The NSCN-K wants to respect each others' operational territory but the NSCN-IM is not so, rued the NSCN-K leader.
Felix said that the NSCN-K could also run after the NSCN-IM cadres and attack their campswe are always ready for peace as well as war and in the interest of the general public but we opted for peace and today our patience is running out. The NSCN-K leader also stated that the Naga NGOs had been calling for peace so the NSCN-K has been maintaining peaceful atmosphere and restraining itself. With regard to yesterdays Makhom incident, Felix said that 4 NSCN-IM cadres were injured critically of which two might have died one belonged to the Zeliangrong community while the other hailed from Nagaland.
He alleged that the NSCN-IM cadres had beaten up villagers asking them to disclose the whereabouts of the NSCN-K cadres.
