Imphal, January 05: Protesting against alleged harassment and torture meted to Bongyang villagers, a Wakat Meepham and public meeting was held today during which it was resolved not to participate in elections under Indian constitution until and unless AFSPA is repealed in toto.

Villagers of Bongyang and surrounding villages under Yairipok PS were enraged and victimised by troops of AR who set two houses on fire, confiscated work tools, undue harassment and torture following an encounter with an underground outfit.

The meeting was participated by people from Bongyang and surrounding areas to protest and condemn AR excesses.

The meeting and Wakat Meepham jointly organised by Eastern Club Development Organisation, S Bongyang, Saitang, MAFYF and Human Rights Alert adopted various resolutions which included boycott of polls under the Indian constitution until and unless the draconian AFSPA is repealed in toto.
