Imphal, February 04: The Kuki Students' Organisation, Khengjol block of Chandel district has informed that one of the two persons who were wounded in a mine blast on January 27 in the general area of Tuivang Dung has succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased person has been identified as Holkhopao Mate (37) s/o (L) Khathm Mate of Bongjoi village and the injured as one Letkholal Khongsai (28) s/o Tiljathang Khongsai of Molkot village.

Letkholal is currently undergoing treatment at Chakpikarong FSC, said the KSO.

Detailing circumstances of the incident, the student body informed that the victims tripped over a mine bomb laid by underground activists while on their way for fishing.

Asserting that such incident is not new in Khengjol block where the villagers have to face one tragedy after the other, the KSO also said Holkhopao was the sole bread winner of the family and left behind two children.
