Kachai Lemon Festival is being organised with the primary aim of encouraging the Lemon farmers of the area as well to draw the attention of the State Govt towards the problems faced by the people of the area regarding water, transportation, electricity etc.
Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the Kachai Lemon Festival, MLA Aza said that the festival would be organised annually from now on as the festival helps the farmers to showcase their products and increase their sale thereby improving their economic condition even though on a small scale.
In his presidential speech MLA Danny Shaiza urged the youths to be enterprising and create their own self employment avenue instead of depending on the Govt jobs.
Stating that the festival has given a new hope not only to the people of Kachai area but also to the people of the State in general in Lemon cultivation, Danny appealed to the public to extend all possible cooperation in organising similar festival in future.
The inaugural function of the festival was marked by the unveiling of thd "Festival Stone" and the release of a souvenir by the chief guest.
Cultural dances were displayed by cultural groups.
The Chief Guest MLA Aza donated a sum of Rs 15,000 while MLA Danny and Ukhrul Dist Deputy Commissioner Y Yugindro donated a sum of Rs Rs 5000 each to Kachai Village Authority.
Rs 1500 each were also given to all the dance troupes which performed at the function today.
Altogether 33 stall were opened at the festival.
