Infuriated villagers lynch militant

Imphal, February 04: Infuriated villagers lynched a UG who had come to solve a land dispute at Watha Lembal village locate'd twenty kms north west of Kumbi PS this morning.

The deceased youth has been identified as one .

Leirenjam Ibomcha alias Premchand (27) s/o Nimai of Joypur Khunnou Chingdon Leikai.

According to reports received from the police, Ibomcha was shot and even stabbed by the irate villagers of Watha Lembal when he went there this morning to settle a land dispute.

Watha village is inhabited by the Kom tribe.

Reports also said that one 9 mm pistol snatched from Ibomcha was also handed over to the police by the villagers.

All male members of the Watha village were found to have fled the village when police went to investigate the killing this afternoon.

Womenfolk were found guarding the residential houses.
