Governor Dr SS Sidhu and Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh have conveyed their heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur and specially the Naga brethren on the joyous and auspicious occasion of Lui-Ngai-Ni, the seed sowing festival of the Nagas which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In his message, Dr Sidhu said Lui-Ngai-Ni, the common seed sowing festival of the Nagas is one of the tourist festivals of the country and so it occupies a unique position not only among the Nagas but also among the people of the North East and of the country, for it appeals to peace, harmony and humanism.
Dr Sidhu further observed that ensuring peace and achieving progress is a common objective of all religious and social systems.
And in celebrating the festival, the edifice of oneness gets strengthened and the bond of brotherhood and friendship gets ensured.
In his message, Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh hoped that celebrating Lui-Ngai-Ni in its true spirit would strengthen the bond of love, friendship, oneness and brotherhood among all sections of the people.
May the seed sowing festival of spring bring joy, happiness and prosperity to all apart from spreading the message of peaceful co-existence, Ibobi prayed.
United Committee Manipur (UCM) has also extended its Lui-Ngai-Ni greetings to all the groups of people who have been living in mutual harmony since time immemorial.
In a statement, secretary general of UCM Kh Gourashyam said partaking in the festivities of each other would further strengthen the bond of unity among the people and help in enriching the culture and tradition of Manipur.
