RPF salutes slain cadres, alleges

Imphal, February 14: The RPF has offered revolutionary salutes to its two cadres who were killed by Assam Rifles personnel on February 7 at Ngariyan Ching.

In a statement, the outfit said that the two slain cadres, L/Cpl Leishangthem Loyumba alias Midash Meitei (24) of Lilong bazar and L/Cpl Nongthombam Naobicha alias Lanchangba alias Sarat (21) of Irilbung Keithel Machahal were first arrested by personnel of 32 AR from Yairipok at about 8 pm on February 6 and taken away in a Tata, blind folded and with hands tied.

The claim that the two cadres, who were taken away with their hands tied, opened fire at the AR men and were killed in retaliation is a story that is not new in Manipur, said RPF. Naobicha was in fact taking a rest as his leg was fractured, said RPF and added that the encounter story floated by the AR is nothing but lies.

They were killed after severe torture.
