The prevailing insurgency related violence has hindered the development pace in the state, it made unreasonable suffering to the people too, said Inspector General of Police (IGP), CRPF, Manipur and Nagaland Sector, RC Chauhan today.
The IGP, further speaking at the sideline of the inaugural function of a football tournament at Kom Keirak in Churachandpur district organised by the 32nd battalion CRPF under its civic action programme, said most of the states in the north east region have gone steps ahead to Manipur as the pace of development here in the state is slowing down owing to disruptive activities of the insurgents.
Other north east states have advanced keeping behind Manipur in the paces of development owing the existing insurgency problem, Chauhan said stressing the need of prevalent of peace in the region for stepping forward in all fields.
At the same time, he said the insurgency problem of the state could not be solved by means of armed.
As no insurgency problem in the globe ever solved by means of armed, the problem is to be solved with "political talk".
Now time has come, people of the state to come out and stand against threatening of people with bombs and guns for extortion and join in the effort to bring peace in the region, he called for.
Reiterating that CRPF is not part of the counter insurgency operation in the state, he said around six battalions deploying in the state are utilizing in guarding the VIPs residences, important installations, offices and project sites as well as in the protection of section of the NH-53 passing through the state.
There were also changes within the establishments, earlier battalions had left the state and deployed in the states of the country affected by Maoists, he added.
CRPF is trying to build up good relation with the common people in the state.
The development programmes are taken up in the state under civic action programmes.
This will help in feeling the people that security forces are for the people.
Only when security forces go together with the people, peace and development will come, he believed.
Meanwhile, in the opening ceremony of the football tournament organised by the 32 battalion CRPF and would go on till March 27, commandant of 109 CRPF, Rajesh Dharkwal, commandant of 183 battalion CRPF HN Beins, chief engineer of Loktak Hydro-electricity VK Karn were attended.
The chief guest of the function also distributed sport kits to the players.
A total of 24 teams are participating in the tourney.
