A teacher was caned 10 times in the charged of not controlling students using unfair means in the ongoing Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Exam by activist of the proscribed KYKL.
Speaking to media persons at an undisclosed place in Imphal, a spokesperson of the outfit reiterated that the teacher has been awarded the punishment for defying the warning put down to the officer in-charge of the examination and invigilators of the ongoing HSLC and HSSLC Exams.
The outfit had already warned that they will award hard punishment to those officials and teachers on exam duty to obey by the diktat, he recalled expressing dissatisfaction over negligence of the warning by some officials and teachers on exam duty.
For defying the diktat, the outfit called up two OCs of the N Birahari College, Khundrakpam, a private centre for the HSSLCE conducts by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, S Surjamani of Khurai Heikru Makhong and headmaster of Sagolmang High School and Ng Akashini, a lecturer of the Naorem Birahari College.
However, the spokesperson while informing that Akashini failed to turned up, warned her and Surjamani who responded to the summoned was caned for 10 times as punishment for his negligence.
The "light punishment" awarded to Surjamani as he responded to the summoned by the outfit.
Surjamani while talking to reporters said that he did not insisted the students to use unfair means.
He asked students on the exam for mathematic subject to surrender before entering to examination room but students refused to do so.
But he took up strict vigilance on them during the conduct of the exam.
He will not blame if board taken out him from being OC in-charge of the exam centre, he said.
