Maintaining that no student have enrolled over the years, the headmaster of Lungtheilian UJB School has allegedly dismantled the school buildings and gave away the materials to some individuals.
Disclosing this to a group of mediapersons, chairman of Lungtheilian Village Authority Ralkapthuom lamented that though complaint had been lodged and brought the matter to the notice of the officials concerned of the State Government, no action have been taken up against the headmaster.
Lungtheilian is a small village of Hmar community located along the road leading to Tipaimukh, some 250 kms away from Churachandpur district headquarters.
Ralkapthuom informed that the headmaster of the UJB School dismantled building of the school which was running with grant-in-aid support from the Government in January this year and the CI sheets and the wooden beams and planks were given away to some individuals of the village.
The headmaster has also insisted on construction of the village church on the land where the school building used to stand, the village chairman informed.
He further informed that after around a month of dismantling the school building, the village authority had lodged a complaint to the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) and the Deputy Inspector.
But so far no action have been initiated against the headmaster.
Even though the school building has gone, three of the teachers have been enjoying their monthly pay, he added.
While drawing the attention of the Government to the need for keeping the UJB School in the village inhabited by poor people, the village chairman urged for constructing a new building of the school.
He also appealed for developing the infrastructures in the only existing Government Junior School of the village.
