The two hardcore leaders of a group of KCP(MC) arrested in Mizoram on Monday last were brought back to Manipur by a team of Bishnupur district police by air at about 10.30 am today.
Following the disclosure made by the two, Bishnupur district police commandos have also arrested three more activists of the group.
Self-styled C-in-C, Laishram Ranjit @ Tamnganba @ Lanngakpa @ Manao @ Apik (36), son of L Achoubi of Yurembam Awang Leikai in Imphal West District was apprehended by a combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commandos and 4/8 Gorkha Regiment under 73rd Mountain Division of Red Shield Division in coordination with Mizoram Police on Monday at Bawnkawn, Aizawl of Mizoram along with his aide Naorem Anand @ Pari (28), son of N Deben of Moidangpok.
Police said that Laishram Ranjit @ Tamnganba is the Commander-in-Chief of a group of the Kangleipak Communists Party (KCP) recently floated as KCP(MC)�Tamnganba Group.
Ranijt @ Tamnganba who was the publicity secretary of KCP(MC) defected from the party and formed the new group (KCP (MC)-Tamnganba group, SP, Bishnupur district, Jayenta said alleging that the group has been formed only with the objective of extorting money from the general people and government officers.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Ranjit and Anand have floated another KCP(MC) group known as KCP(MC) Tamnganba group by assuming himself as the Self Styled C-in-C of the group.
The C-in-C along with his aide was brought back to Imphal by a team of Bishnupur district police commandos today led by an Inspector of Bishnupur district police after production of warrants in a local court of Mizoram yesterday, the officer said.
They were "wanted" by the Bishnupur police station in connection with a case registered under FIR No.106(9)08 under section 17/20 UA(P) A Act'2004, a senior police officer of the district said.
The Bishnupur police further claimed rounding up of three active members of the group including a 61-year old woman identified as Soibam Sanahanbi of Malom Awang Leikai, Imphal in a follow up action to the disclosure made by two apprehended leaders.
The two other were identified as Anoubam Kanta Sharma (43) of Nambol Phoijing and Okram Biju @ Bijei (27) son of late Joy of Silchar Sonai at present Langol Leima Khullen.
They were together rounded up from Kaboklei Keithel of Bishnupur district.
