Manipur Police Constables (Drivers/Dispatch Riders) Welfare Association on Thursday cautioned the Government to issue their appointment letters by March 25.Failure to meet the demand would result in launching various agitations, warned the association.
Speaking to the media persons, L.Surjit, president of the association informed that the results of the recruitment rally were declared November last year where nearly 1,500 had been selected for the drivers' post in the police department.
However, no appointment letters have been dispatched to the selected candidates nor there is any intimation for training, added L.Surjit.
When enquired about the delay in the process to the concerned department, they were being instructed that the verification was still continuing, informed L.Surjit.
Expressing discontentment on the attitude of the government, L.Surjit stated that the training of the constables have been started and the results fro the constables were declared just three weeks ahead of the drivers' recruitment result.
Moreover, nearly 4,000 constables were selected, maintained L.Surjit.
In this regard, a meeting was held Thursday at Thau ground, Imphal where hundreds of the selected drivers participated.
A memorandum stating the deadline to issue the appointment letters of the appointed drivers was submitted to the chief minister.
CRPF initiative: As a part of the civic action programme a football tournament for 24 villages in the area of responsibility of 32nd Battalion CRPF, Komkeirap (Loktak) has commenced from today with IGP, Manipur & Nagaland Sector CRPF, RC Tayal inaugurating the 10 day competition as the chief guest.
The civic action programme also includes distribution of sport kit to each team and the winners & runners-up trophy with cash prizes also consolation prizes to all teams, a CRPF statement informed.
speaking at the occasion, RC Tayal expressed that civic action programme by CRPF is a step towards showing humane face of the force to the general public and also to exhibit a feeling that CRPF is their friend, with an objective to serve, protect and secure.
The IGP also pledged CRPF's unflinching commitment for the overall wellbeing of the people.
In his welcome address, 2 I/C, Commandant (CCD) of the CRPF unit Mahendra Kumar elaborated that, there is need for peaceful co-existence, harmony and development in all spheres of life.
Among others, Chief Engineer (NHPC Project) VK Karan, senior officers of NHPC, CRPF, local administrators, heads of various villages and locals were also present during the opening ceremony which was marked by presentation of cultural items of the Naga, kuki and Meitei community.
