After successfully covering Thoubal and Senapati district, the Shija Mission for Vision campaign of the Shija Hospital and Research Institute has been formally launched at Ukhrul district today and identified 18 patients who would be needing operation for cataract.
On the other hand, after the success of the operation conducted on 12 patients out of 15 identified for operation under the first phase of the Smile Train Shija Cleft Project launched at Ukhrul town on March 9, the second phase of the project has also been launched today along with identifying one more patient who would be needing similar operation.
The campaign of Shija Mission for Vision was launched at a function jointly organised by Shija Hospital and Research Institute, Comprehensive Health Services and Research Centre (CHSRC) and the district administration at the complex of CHSRC at Hamleikhong village in Ukhrul district today.
The campaign was flagged off jointly by Managing Director of Shija Hospital and Research Institute Dr Kh Palin and Deputy Commissioner of Ukhrul district N Ashok Kumar.
Eye specialists of Shija Dr Sachin and Dr Sunil and two reflector technicians screened over 121 patients.
Out of them 18 patients who would be needing cataract operations have been identified.
Of the 18 patients, 10 of them including a young girl have been brought to Imphal for working out the schedule of the operation to be conducted from tomorrow.
On the other hand, the second phase of the campaign of Shija's Smile Train Cleft Project was conducted jointly by Dr Palin and his wife Dr Kh Ongbi Bony Devi.
During the campaign one patient who would be needing treatment had been identified and accordingly the name of the patient had been listed among those who would be provided free operation under the project.
