The Non Teaching Employees' Association of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal on Thursday cautioned the hospital authority to pay off their remaining 60 percent arrears by March 22.Failure to meet the demands would result in various agitations, informed the association.
The members of Non Teaching Employee Association of RIMS comprising of the staff of the III and IV grade on Thursday stormed the office of the director, Dr.L Fimate demanding the remaining arrear amount be paid off.
The outpatient Department and the casualty were shut down for some minutes.
However, N Basanta, president of the association managed to pacify the irate staff.
Talking to media persons, N Basanta informed that the salary structure of the employees of RIMS is under the Sixth Pay Commission since November 2008 .
The employees were being assured that the remaining 60 per cent arrears would be paid after the financial year ending, March 31, 2010.Out of the Rs 39 crores sanctioned by the centre, Rs 36 crores were received on March 2 this year.
However the administrative department is yet to clear off the remaining 60 percent arrears of the employees, added N Basanta.
Meanwhile, Dr.L Fimate while convincing the irate employees stated that the Rs 36 crores sanctioned by the centre was for improvement works of the hospital such as purchasing hospital equipments, construction work.
Therefore no money was sanctioned for paying the arrears, added Dr.Fimate.
He further informed that the remaining 60 percent arrears would be paid after inclusion in subsequent budget.
Meanwhile, the association warned of various forms of agitation from March 22 .
