Rifleman Shijagurumayum Surjit Sharma (27) and his accomplice Keisham Tijendra Singh alias KT, who are in police custody in connection with the attempt to rob civilians have confessed to their crimes of extorting from public.
Shijagurumayum Surjit Sharma (27) of Sekta Makha Leikai who is a Rifleman (No 132001059) of 4th IRB and his accomplice Keisham Tijendra Singh alias KT (21) of Thangmeiband Thingel Maru have confessed to their crimes during the course of further investigation, SP of Imphal West District informed in a statement.
Both of have been in police custody in connection with the FIR case no.174 ((0, 2005 of Singjamei PS under section 384/34 IPC.
According to the statement issued by the SP, they extorted Rs 35 and Rs 70 respectively from two non-Manipuri at Khoyathong area while they (the two non-Manipuris) were coming towards Thangal bazar at around 6.30 pm on May 1, 2005.On March 4, 2005 at about 1.15 pm, they exhorted Rs 750 from one non-Manipuri at Chingmeirong near LeiIngkhol.
Again on the same day, they exhorted Rs 980 from another non-Manipuri Rickshaw puller at the same area.
On Sept 12, 2005 at about 6.40 pm, the two accused exhorted Rs 800 and one mobile phone from one scooterist at Lamphel near RIMS Morgue.
