Imphal, September 27:
As part of its 4th Enlighten month observance, Manipuri Students Federation today organised a function under the theme of Peace and Communal Harmony at Tera Keithel.
Physical Education Promotion Officer, Director of Education (S) LW Ananta was the chief guest, MSF president S Sanjoy Singh was the president and Selection Grade Lecturer of Maharaja Budhachandra College Ch Thoiba Singh, District Youth Affairs and Sports Officer and vice president of Adventure Academy of Manipur RK Chitrajit Singh and president of Ideal Club, Tera Keithel Th Mangi Singh were guest of honour of the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Ananta said that Enlighten month observance of MSF is very relevant in the present social context of Manipur.
So instead of observing it at the valley areas, similar programmes/function should also be held at the hill areas of the State, he said, while noting that there is lack of communication between the people living in the hills and the valley.
Ananta maintained that there are three main reasons /causes for lack of peace and harmony in Manipur today.
The first reason is the materialistic outlook of the people with fast pace of development in science and technology.
The second is the ever escalating problem of unemployment and the third is the problems of insurgency, he said.
In order to achieve the goal of the Enlighten Month, there is the need to teach moral lesson to the young children right from lower classes onwards, he observed.
