Imphal, September 27:
As the apex social body of the Kukis and as the custodian of the Kuki customary laws, the Kuki Inpi, Manipur has decided to expel the present executive members of the Kuki Students' Organisation (Ghqs) interim body on a number of charges.
In a statement, the president of KIM, P Gangte said that the decision to expel the executive members of KSO was taken as they had shown utter disrespect to KIM which is a deliberate disrespect to the Kuki people.
Raising more charges, the statement said that KSO executive members issued orders to surrender KIM's files and properties to KSO (Ghqs) which is a grave breach of the generally accepted rules and an extreme form of disrespecting KIM.
Further the executive members of KSO were accused of announcing their decision to hold KIM's election without getting authorisation from KIM.
The other charges raised against the KSO (Ghqs) executive members include, openly challenging the president of KIM as if they are above KIM which is a great dishonour to the Kuki people, failing to understand the meaning of interim and continuing to remain in that capacity even after 2 years, illegally expelling two council members for a period of three years without realising their interim status which is devoid of the power to expel any of its members, warning to boycott all newspapers if they publish any press hand out of KIM.
The statement explained that the two members who were expelled, M Papao Haokip and Chungsat Khongsai resigned voluntarily two months back after they came to know that the executive members had no intention of conducting the KSO election for which the interim body was formed in the first place.
Taking all these factors into consideration, KIM said they decided to expel the executive members of KSO, interim body from all social activities for a period of 3 years.
KIM has also decided to revoke the termination order of the two KSO members M Papao and Chungsat Khongsai.
Earlier yesterday, during a press conference, one of the expelled members, CS Khongsai said that the interim council of the KSO does not have the right to expel them as they had already resigned.
He also accused the interim president of KSO of being a Govt employee working as a part time lecturer at Nambol HSS.
CS Khongsai said that they resigned because of the incompetent leadership of the interim president, illegibility to be the president of KSO under Art 16 (3) and violating the rights of the students (that is teacher not attending class).
