AS THE pre quarter final of the 52nd Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football Tournament 2008, organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) entered its 8th day, the Anouba Imagi Mangal (AIM) entered quarter final as winner of group H after defeating its opponent Dimapur Road Athletic Organisation (DMRAO) in today's first match.
AIM defeated DMRAO 1-0 and entered quarter final round.
Both team played the match with full performances.
Both tried hard to dominate one another.
But it was not an easy task to dominate their opponent for both teams.
With much effort, L Jiban scored the only goal of the match in the 26th minute of the match.
Players of DMRAO tried hard to equalise the score position but luck was not at their side.
No players of DMRAO could scored any goal till the end of the match.
M Ibomcha, A Anand of DMRAO and L Jiban of AIM were issued a yellow card for their unsporting behaviour during the match.
It was for the first time that AIM entered quarter final round in the history of CC meet.
Today's second match was played between Eastern Sporting Union (ESU) and Athletic Brother's Association (ABA).
ABA won the match after defeating its opponent ESU 2-1 .
Helkhohao Vaiphei of ABA opened the scoreboard by scoring the first goal of the match in the 17th minute of the match.
Players of ESU tried hard to equalise the score position.
In the meantime another goal against ESU was scored by S Kishan of ABA in the 34th minute of the match.
Players of ESU tried hard without any luck to equalise the score position.
The first half of the match went scoreless for ESU.
The first half was dominantly played by ABA players.
The second half of the match witnessed a better, more enthusiastic players of ESU.
They played the match with renewed vigour in the second half.
As a result of their multiple effort, Heman of ESU managed to score one goal against ABA from a penalty kick in the 66th minute of the match.
ESU players tried hard to equalise the score, but could not make any further score and the match ended with ABA winning.
Helkhohao Vaiphei and Somorendro was issued a yellow card each in the 11th and 37th minute of the match.
Romen of ESU was also issued a yellow card in the 90th minute of the match for his unsporting behaviour during the match.
