Imphal, December 06 2008:
To be attended by representatives from Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Bay of Bengal Initiative for MultiSectoral Technical and Economic Co-operation (BIMSTEC) countries, the State Government would be hosting a three-day long International conclave on medicinal plants starting from December 11 to 13 at Jubilee Hall, RIMS here.
The event is to be organised by the State Forest Department in collaboration with National Medicinal Plants Board and would be sponsored by the Department of Commerce, Government of India.
Talking to The Sangai Express in this connection, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Government of Manipur S Singsit informed that besides India officials and representatives from various countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Sri Lanka, Malayasia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam would be participating in the conclave along with around 20 scientists.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh would be inaugurating the conclave which would have altogether five technical sessions and one to one business meeting among the participants, Singsit disclosed.
