Imphal, December 06 2008:
Taking into account risk posed to the lives of Manipur Police commando personnel and their family members, the State Government has earmarked required land for construction of a security accommodation complex in the State capital so that commando personnel and their families can live together.
This was stated by Chief Minister O Ibobi while speaking as chief guest on the diamond jubilee function of Gauhati High Court at JN Manipur Dance Academy today.
For the proposed security accommodation complex, the Union Government has sanctioned Rs 5 crores while the State Government has already earmarked 100 acres of land.
However, the sanctioned amount has not been released yet, said Ibobi adding when the amount is released construction work will begin.
For establishment of a separate High Court for the State, a written representation has already been submitted to the Union Law Ministry.
Claiming that the State Government is urging the Law Ministry to convert the proposed plan into action, Ibobi stated that the Law Ministry has given assurance to consider the proposal for separate High Court.
