Imphal, December 06 2008:
The executive councils of Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) has inspected the progress of the construction work being taken up along the National Highway 39 for the fourth time and has expressed unhappiness over the slow pace and lack of quality control.
In a statement, SDSA general secretary Kaba Rofiinamai said that progress of work between the milestone points of 272 km and 263 km is very slow and quality has not been maintained.
During the last two inspections, the road Mohori of the Government was also found absent and the Government has not deputed any SO/Engineer to supervise the work, he said, adding that while inspecting the road portion under construction of BRO, no progress was seen at all with exception to construction of culverts.
On the other hand, in connection with the prohibition order which has been effected since October 2008, volunteers of SDSA today burnt a huge quantity of banned substances like Talab, JMD, Tez, etc in the presence of OC Senapati Police Station, Kaba said, while warning that anyone found selling these banned substances would be imposed double-fine.
