Imphal, January 19: AIM, Kairang and YDC, Awang Potsangbam have been promoted to first and second division respectively following their victories in the Imphal East district football league tournament at Khuman Lampak main stadium today.

In the T Bhimo Division II league final, the Kairang side pipped UPAA, Kyamgei 5-4 via the tie breaker as normal period ended at one goal each.

In the penalty shootout, S Bikram, Kh Bhupenchand, Ng Lukhoi and W Thomas beat UPAA custodian Kh Khaba while L Ajitkumar's attempt from the spot sailed over the crosspiece.

On the other hand, only W Athoiba, N Pritam and M Bocha could score for UPAA as H Herojit's attempt hit the post and AIM goalkeeper L Ashok denied Kh Sunil with a dividing save.

Earlier, Herojit provided the breakthrough for the Kyamgei side with a 44th minute goal which was eventually equalised by S Bikram ten minutes later.
