Officers and personnel of 24 Assam Rifles stationed at Bong-yang Post evacuated and provided emergency medical assistance to over 30 persons who sustained injuries when the passenger bus they were travelling in met with an accident on January 17 while coming from Moreh, according to statement.
While three seriously injured passengers were shifted to Imphal 30 of them were evacuated to the Bongyang Post and administer- ed first aid.
The passenger bus bearing registration number MN01/0362 was loaded with 59 passengers, including seven children.
Jawans of the AR post not only provided medical help but also relayed messages to family members of the injured, said the statement.
On getting information of the mishap a column of the AR post along with medical officer Deepak (AC) rushed to the spot and attended to the injured, further detailed the statement while conveying of local public appreciation to the AR�s humane endeavour.
A separate statement issued by the 24 AR also informed of a team of qualified instructors providing pre-recruitment training for four months to over 245 candidates for the Chandel recruitment rally at the battalion headquarters.
The training regimes include medical check-up, documentation and physical rigours, said the statement while adding that similar exercise is being conducted at company posts.
Informing interested candidates to join the pre-recruitment training the statement said the battalion Commandant briefed the candidates taking part at the training since January 3.Bhupinder takes charge: Lt Gen BS Thakur has formally taken over as Vice Chief of Army staff.
Gen Thakur paid homage at Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate and later reviewed a Guard of Honor on arrival in South Block today, said a PIB (DW) handout.
