Nagaland police seized a huge ganja consignment worth Rs 3 crores from three Assam bound trucks coming from Manipur on Monday evening.
The police said that 16,540 kilograms of the contraband item was seized from Assam bound trucks bearing registration numbers AS-25-8297, NL-01A 3244 and AS-25-7015 at around 7 pm on Monday from New Field Check Gate of Chumukedema, Dimapur.
The police said that the three Guwahati bound trucks laden with ganja were intercepted by the Nagaland Excise Narcotic Cell personnel and during the search recovered 827 neatly packed ganja packets each weighing about 20 kgs.
The police further said that in this connection three drivers were arrested and interrogated.
The drivers revealed that the trucks were loaded from Ukhrul in Manipur and were heading for Guwahati via Chouzouba when they were intercepted by the Excise Narcotic Cell personnel.
The drivers also revealed that the ganjas belonged to one Inao Singh of Imphal but the exact address was not disclosed.
The drivers were identified as one Ranjan Singh s/o Yaiskul of Khurai, Imphal, Kishore Singh s/o Pukon Singh of Yairipok under Thoubal district and Iboyaima Singh s/o Angou Singh of Sekta, Imphal.
The three trucks along-with the drivers are now kept in the Dimapur police custody.
