Imphal, November 21: The annual general body meeting of Nungba Area Village Authority (NAVAA) was held from November 17 to 18 at Rongdai village community hall.

Besides electing its new office bearers and constituting the Nungba Area Customary Court, the meeting decided to ban use of poison, inverter, bleaching power, etc and collectively high against human rights abuse/violation in the area.

The meeting further decided to celebrate the 25 anniversary of NAVAA in December 2006 and changes the names of the existing villages with their original names with immediate effect.

International fortnight: Women Action For Development (WAD) would be observing the International Fortnight Protesting Violence Against Women from November 25 to December 10 at Imphal by organising various programmes.

A press release issued by the convenor of the observation committee informed that the inaugural function on Nov 25 would be held at State Guest House, Sanjenthong followed by a mass rally on Nov 30.
