Imphal, November 21: NBCC has commenced reconstruction of Khwairamband bazar sticking to the sentiments of the people to retain its original character from this morning.

Officials, workers and labourers of NBCC performed the ceremonial rites and rituals to commence the work at New Market at 10 am today after which levelling of the earth was done.

Later during the day, Chairman of Planning and Development Authority K Ranjit visited the New Market to inspect the work being carrying out.

He told reporters that the work on the market has been delayed following certain changes made in the earlier plan and design keeping the sentiments of the people to retain its original character in mind.
