Acting on the instruction from the Centre, the survey work for construction of road and restoration of pillars on the Manipur side of the Indo-Myanmar border are being carried out currently.
Informing this to The Sangai Express, a reliable source said that an official team of the State Government is carrying out the survey of the boundary on the Manipur sector for construction of road along the boundary following instruction from the Centre.
The survey work for the proposed road construction on the territory of Manipur is almost completed, the source said, adding that the road would solve the problem of going from the side of Myanmar for inspection of the border pillars.
A joint official team of Survey of India and Myanmar Survey officials has also started carrying out inspection and restoration of the border pillars and so far border pillar nos.73 and 101 have been covered, the source informed.
The border pillars which are to be covered in the inspection and restoration work in the current year itself are Border pillar no 73 in Chandel, 101, 114 (I), 114 (III), 115 (I), 115 (11), 116 and 117 in Ukhrul district.
Survey Officer of Survey of India AK Bhattacharya said these nine border pillars would be covered within this year.
He denied having any knowledge on the complaints of missing border pillars.
