A mobile vehicle check post set up by troops of 37 Assam Rifles at Pallel gate number I on NH-39 intercepted a Tata Sumo on November 20 evening and seized 52 emeralds from the possession of a Myanmarese woman.
In a statement, Assam Rifles PRO identified the woman as one Roma (35) and added that the woman along with the seized emeralds have been handed over to the Customs Dept at Pallel.
Arms, ammos recovered: Troops of 7 Assam Rifles recovered one A 4 Lethod launcher, one missed Lethod bomb and a magazine along with 34 live rounds after a brief gun fight with militants at Keibul Lamjao National Park yesterday at about 12 pm.
All the seized arms have been handed over to Moirang police.
