Imphal, November 21:
The 12 hour hunger strike undertaken by the Manipur State Pensioners' Union pressing for their charter of demands has completed four days today.
In a statement, the Union asserted that the agitation has been necessitated by the State Government's decision to forfeit the rights of pensioners.
It ridiculed Government excuse of financial constraint citing the paradoxical increment of pay scale for MLAs and ministers from Rs 17,000 to 25,000 which amounted to about Rs 50,000 adding other allowances.
