Imphal, September 19: An elderly person was killed when he was ran over by a Canter in front of ABC Godown, Khoyathong under Imphal Police Station today.

The unfortunate incident occurred at around 8 am while the man was trying to cross the road.

According to report received by the press, the deceased has been identified as one Ningthoujam Babu (52) of Moirang Chingmei.

The body has been handed over to the bereaved family members after a post-mortem at RIMS Hospital.

SRYO flays: Social Remedy Youth Organisation (SRYO), New Lambulane has strongly condemned the hit and run incident at the New Checkon crossing at around 12.05 pm today which caused severe physical injury to one Miss Akip Kom of Deulahlane.

She was riding in a rickshaw along with her mother when a White hard top Gypsy hit them.

In a statement, SRYO secretary (advisor) has also flayed that indifferent attitude of the local people who allegedly refused and ignored to stop or take down the license number of the runaway vehicle.
