Imphal, September 19:
KCP (P) has put on hold its final decision on the issue of Manipuri digital film for another one month.
Since KCP (P) is committed to the interest of the people, a central committee meeting of the party would be convened to discuss the issue, after which permission for the shooting and screening of digital films under certain conditions would be given, publicity secretary of the outfit Leingak Leima Chanu said.
In a statement, Chanu said as there is the need for a serious look into the nature and content of the digital films being made and how far they are mirroring the true picture of the Manipuri culture and tradition.
So KCP (P) would continue the ban on digital films for another 30 days.
After a serious deliberation on the issue, KPC (P) would laid down certain conditions which the producers and directors should follow.
It should be the responsibility of the Film Forum, Manipur and the CATA to ensure thesaid conditions are followed, Chanu stated.
KCP (P) further said that no film maker or producer should continue film shooting or screening activities within the set dateline and anybody found violating the diktat would be penalised without a giving any warning.
The stand of the KCP (P) on Manipuri digital films was not taken at the spur of the moment, but after consulting with many intellectuals and scholars, Chanu said.
