In a significant ruling, the special judge, Imphal east today issued non-bailable warrants of arrest against three officials of School Education Department including its director-in- charge, now under suspension, in connection with the Rs 12 crore pension scam.
The order was issued after perusing the report submitted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), set up to investigate the scam, contending that the trio had been evading arrest, police sources said.
Besides Shimray, the other two accused are Internal Audit Officer Kh Labango Singh and Joint Director P Akha.
Earlier anticipatory bail application filed by Shimray was rejected by the Imphal Bench of the Gauhati High Court on Sept 22.These officials are wanted by the police in connection with the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 12 crores meant for payment of arrears to retired Head Pandits of elementary schools.
