Stepping up the counter insurgency operation, Imphal West and Imphal East district police commandos have apprehended five underground activists including two PREPAK cadres and 3 KCP activists from different parts of the twin capital city yesterday.
According to a statement issued by the SP of Imphal West District, the two PREPAK activists identified as Sagolsem Yaima alias Ngakpiba alias Henari (29) s/o of S Modhuchandra of Langthabal Mamang Leikai and Langpoklakpal Pari Singh (26) s/o L Juge Singh of Konjeng Leikai were arrested from Haobam Marak near Kha Imphal Higher Secondary School.
They were arrested during the course of search and frisking operation conducted in the general area of Pishumthong, Chingamakha and Haobam Marak based on information that some UG element as are loitering around, the SP said, adding that one 9 mm pistol along with 8 live rounds of ammunition have been recovered from the possession of Pari.
The police officer further informed that Yaima is a sergeant and his army no.is 80279 of the outfit.
On the other hand, the SP of Imphal East district, in another statement, informed that two activists of KCP, namely Yumnam Apan Singh alias Anil alias Chand (28) s/o Late Y Bhishma Singh of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai and Songthu Arang Kom alias Thangjoy (26) s/o late Toton Kom of Saikul Purum Likli were apprehended from Hatta near the oil pump along with incriminating documents during a search operation at around 6.15 pm yesterday.
On preliminary interrogation, Apan disclosed that he joined the outfit in May 2005 and Arang disclosed that he joined KCP in September 2005.Both joined the outfit through one late sergeant Sanathoi of the outfit.
