Ukhrul, October 14:
Myanmarese army personnel crossed over the international Indo-Myanmar boundary and gunned down two Manipuris at the bordering Molvailup village under Chassad police station in Ukhrul district at around 4 pm yesterday.
According to information received by the press, the two Manipuris, both belonging to Tangkhul community were picked up Myanmarese army who intruded into Molvailup village located along the Indian Border Pillar no.113 at around 8 am yesterday.
They were later taken inside the Myanmar border where they were shot dead at around 8 pm.
The slain persons were identified as Vareising Zimik (28) s/o Khasim of Nungou village and Nimayung alias Sanajao Keishing (28) s/o Sarat Keishing of Nambasi Khunou.
Both of them were informed to be cattle-traders.
Their bodies are still lying inside Myanmar border, sources said.
The chief of Moulvailup village Yangkhohao Haokip told The Sangai Express that the killing took place when three Myanmarese army personnel with full arms and ammunition from Bonshiya outpost crossed into India and came to the village at around 8 am yesterday.
Sources further said that following the incident tension is running high at the border as Chassad area has been witnessing frequent conflicts between armed groups.
People of the village and neighbouring villagers are afraid to go out for daily work as the frequency of such conflict and Myanmar army intruding into their area had increased in recent months.
