Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has greeted the people of Manipur, specially the Christian brethren on the joyous occasion of Christmas which is being celebrated tomorrow.
In his message, Ibobi said that Jesus Christ, the prince of peace, was born to the world to comfort people in distress and to guide them onto the path of peace.
So, it is time now to listen and to take the message of Christmas with utmost seriousness, shun involvement of oneself in any manner of evil activity and work for peace in the entire State, the Chief Minister said, while appealing to all the organisations concerned to abandon the path of violence so that every family may enjoy Christmas in the spirit of happiness and joy.
Conveying his best wishes to the people on the occasion of Christmas, 2009 and the New Year, 2010, Speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly Dr Budhichandra Singh said 'it is my firm belief that the Christmas festival would be an occasion for bringing peace and prosperity in the State'.
Following the doctrines and principles of Lord Jesus will bring peace, unity and harmony among the mankind.
So left us forget ill-will, enmity among us and try to bring a good and prosperous State, he called upon the people.
Greeting the people, MPP president Dr Nimaichand Luwang exhorted that each and every individual in the society should remember the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross and live in peaceful co-existence.
Invoking the teaching of Jesus Christ, BJP, Manipur Pradesh in its greeting to the people said that 'love and forgiveness' should be the guiding principle for ushering in a new Manipur.
CPI Manipur State Council wished everyone to inculcate the spirit of peaceful co-existence taught by Jesus so as to realise to dream of truly independent human society.
In its greeting, United Committee Manipur (UCM) called upon the people to leave behind their mutual enmity and distrust and work in unity for a society which is free from violence.
It also appealed to Electricity and PHE Department for regular supply of power and water to the people to ensure successful celebration of Christmas.
Zeliangrong Youth Front (Assam, Manipur & Nagaland) has also extended its Christmas, Gaan-Ngai and New Year, 2010 greetings to the people.
All Communities United Front (ACUF), Manipur; Patsoi Kendra Development Council; Social Volunteers' Association, etc have also conveyed greetings to the people on the occasion of Christmas celebration.
