Laying down certain do's and don'ts about passenger vehicles for the safety of passengers and the public, the Senapati District Motor Vehicle Owners' Association has announced that if any driver is found driving rashly and under influence of intoxicants, the vehicle will be seized and the driver's licence confiscated barring him from driving any vehicle in the district for a period of five years in addition to a penalty of Rs 500 .
Saying that no vehicle owner should employ such errant drivers, the SDMVOA warned that any owner violating the same guideline would be liable to a penalty of Rs 5000 .
The vehicle owner or vehicle staff should not be held responsible for any untoward incident in the case of passengers boarding on top/carrier of any vehicle inspite of the warning given by the vehicle staff, said a press release issued by SDMVOA.
